Lama Ahmad is currently a Program Manager on the Facebook Open Research & Transparency team. She is currently working on the team driving the largest ever academic-industry collaboration to study social media’s impact on the U.S. 2020 elections.

Before starting at Facebook, Lama was a Visiting Fellow at the UN Global Pulse Lab Jakarta. She was 1 of 18 young Americans selected for the Henry Luce Scholars program, which allowed her to explore her interests of the impact of technology on society in the context of Indonesia, and Asia at large.

Lama graduated from New York University in Abu Dhabi with a B.A. in Social Research and Public Policy and a minor in Interactive Media and Technology. She has experience in human-centered research design, product strategy and researchdata analyticsearly stage start-ups, and diversity in STEM education initiatives.

Lama was previously a Product Intern at Sift, a Front-End Engineering and Data Analyst Intern at Lucid, and a Founding Team Member at Equal To.
